Experience the Unforgettable Attractions at the House on the Rock in Wisconsin

The House on the Rock, located in Spring Green, Wisconsin, is a truly one-of-a-kind destination. Built by Alex Jordan Jr. starting in the 1940s, the House on the Rock is a collection of buildings, rooms, and attractions that are connected by a series of decks and walkways.

Alex Jordan, the creator of The House on the Rock, was a lifelong collector and museum enthusiast, but he had bigger plans for his attraction in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Rather than a traditional museum, The House on the Rock is a journey through Jordan’s wild and imaginative mind. While some of the collections on display could easily be found in museums, The House on the Rock offers a much more immersive and unique experience.

In December 1988, Jordan sold The House on the Rock to Art Donaldson, a fellow collector and businessman who shared his wide-ranging interests. Jordan served as the attraction’s Artistic Director until his death in November 1989. Art Donaldson owned and operated The House on the Rock until his death in 2018, and the property has remained in the family since.

One of the most famous attractions at the House on the Rock is the Infinity Room, a long, narrow walkway that extends 218 feet out over a valley. The room is supported by just three piers and is completely encased in windows, giving the illusion of walking on air.

Other attractions at the House on the Rock include the World’s Largest Carousel, which features 269 animals and over 20,000 lights, and the Streets of Yesterday, a collection of over 100 antique automobiles. There are also several themed rooms, including the Doll Room, which contains over 10,000 dolls, and the Music Room, which features a giant pipe organ and a collection of automated musical instruments.

In addition to the indoor attractions, the House on the Rock also features several outdoor areas, including a Japanese Garden and a Nature Walk.

Overall, the House on the Rock is a truly unique and unforgettable destination. Whether you’re a fan of antique automobiles, dolls, or just want to experience the Infinity Room, there’s something for everyone at the House on the Rock. So, if you ever find yourself in Wisconsin, be sure to add the House on the Rock to your list of must-see attractions.
