The largest pistachio in the world can be found at PistachioLand, the New Mexico farm owned by nut vendor Tom McGinn. This roadside attraction has become a popular tourist destination, drawing visitors from across the country.
Standing 30-feet tall, the enormous green nut was built using over five yards of concrete and 35 gallons of paint, giving it a realistic appearance. It is visible from the highway and, like many oversized roadside attractions, serves as a lure to the McGinn’s Pistachio Tree Ranch and Winery Gift Shop.
The gift shop offers a range of exotic, pistachio-based products for sale, including chili-chocolate pistachio brittle and homemade pistachio milkshakes. However, the most valuable experience is taking a “nutty” photo underneath the giant snack.
PistachioLand also offers a Motorized Farm Tour, taking visitors through the pistachio orchards and vineyards. During the 20-30 minute tour, visitors learn about the McGinn family’s farming history, as well as information about growing and harvesting pistachios and wine grapes.
